Collection: Traxxas Vehicle Battery & Charger Recommendations
Some Traxxas cars come with only a radio. The battery and charger have to be purchased separately.
We have put together some options to make it easier for you to choose what you need:
If you have the XL-5 ESC in your car, you can use the Nimh battery the car came with or a 7.4V Lipo battery.
If you have the XL-5HV ESC in your car we recommend a 7.4V Lipo battery but the motor and ESC will allow 11.1V Lipo Battery.
If you have the VXL-3S ESC in your car we recommend a 7.4V Lipo battery but the motor and ESC will allow 11.1V Lipo Battery.
If you have the VXL-4S ESC in your car we recommend an 11.1V Lipo battery but the motor and ESC will allow 14.8V Lipo Battery.
If you have the VXL-6S ESC in your car we recommend two 7.4V Lipo batteries but the motor and ESC will allow two 11.1V Lipo Batteries.
If you have the VXL-8S ESC in your car we recommend two 11.1V Lipo batteries but the motor and ESC will allow two 14.8V Lipo Batteries.
CHARGERS
Our Favourite charger is the G.T. POWER C607D. It will usually only take only 1hr to charge your battery, has 240V or 12V input, charges 2-6s lipo, Nimh and lead acid batteries, has a digital lcd screen for battery diagnostics and we can custom make a charge lead for you.
Our other favourite charger is the G.T.POWER SD4-I. It will take around 2hrs to charge a 5A battery because it has a maximum output of 3A but will charge nimh and 2-4S lipo and we can custom make a charge lead for you.
For the kids using NiMH batteries, we like the SKY RC EN20. It has a maximum output of 3A and it's super simple to use so they can be responsible for their own battery care.
OUR BUDGET CHARGERS
Are you just looking for a budget charger? just to get started?
Either of these two might do the job for you.
NIMH Batteries ONLY G.T.POWER N802. This charger has a fixed output of 2A and is suitable for 1500mah batteries and up with 4-8 cells.
LIPO Batteries ONLY G.T. POWER B3. This charger will charge 2S (7.4V) or 3S (11.1V) lipo batteries. It has a fixed output of 1.5A for 2S batteries and a fixed output of 1A for 11.1V Batteries.
